The equilibrist's garden

During the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, a fictional character was born, taking the name of the Equilibrist. Standing like an alter ego, and immersed in the torments of uncertainty, fear and boredom that accompanied this period, the Equilibrist, and almost out of idleness, began to look for poetry in insignificant objects of daily life; he began to collect various objects, initially devoid of any particular emotional value. His curious habit consisted of planting them in jars filled with water. He wasn't much of a gardener, but he was a dreamer, waiting to see something emerge from his jars...

This is when our paths crossed. I wanted to add an additional dimension to his jars by projecting videos of pre-covid mundane daily life of our city Tunis, and this is how his garden began to bloom...

Born in Gafsa, Tunisia, in 1993, Rima Khraief is a tunisian visual artist based in Tunis & Marseille.She predominantly works with videos, creating installations where the interplay of images with materials takes center stage. Her work was shown in Tunisia, Germany, France, Jordany and England.In addition to her installation, she extends her creative practice to live performances, by creating visual content for dance, music, and theater..
